1. Information We Collect
VIN Story may store account email addresses, password hashes, VINs, mileage ranges, issue categories, good things, bad things, repairs, full stories, legal consent proof, story reports, admin notes, deleted-story logs, restore logs, payment records, and password reset code records.
2. Account Information
Users create accounts with an email and password. Passwords are stored as hashes. VIN Story does not need to know or display a user's plain-text password.
3. Vehicle Stories
Stories submitted by users may become visible to other users who search or purchase access to the related VIN report. Users should not include private personal information, addresses, phone numbers, financial information, or sensitive information inside vehicle stories.
4. VIN Searches and Paid Access
VIN Story may store VIN report purchases, purchase date, expiration date, amount, Stripe session reference, and access status. This allows the app to unlock full reports for the correct VIN and show when access expires.
5. Payments
Payments are processed through Stripe. VIN Story stores payment status and report access records, but does not directly store full card numbers or card security codes.
6. Email and Password Reset
VIN Story may use email services such as Resend to send password reset codes, account messages, support messages, and admin moderation alerts. Password reset codes are temporary and are used to help users regain account access.
7. Reports and Moderation
If a story is reported, VIN Story may store the report reason, comment, VIN, story ID, report status, admin notes, and related moderation actions. This helps review abuse, privacy concerns, false information claims, and content disputes.
8. Deleted and Restored Stories
Deleted stories may be saved in an admin audit log with the deletion reason. This helps prevent abuse, support moderation reviews, and document admin or user actions.
9. Sharing Information
VIN Story may share limited information with service providers needed to operate the app, such as Stripe for payments and Resend for email delivery. VIN Story should not sell user personal information to advertisers.
10. Data Safety
VIN Story uses account tokens, password hashing, admin controls, and moderation tools to protect the service. No app can guarantee perfect security, so users should avoid posting sensitive personal information inside public vehicle stories.

Users may contact VIN Story support to ask questions about account access, story removal, story disputes, privacy concerns, or payment access issues.
